🔍 About the Role
Join a cutting-edge project working with one of the leading foundational LLM companies. Your primary role will be to contribute high-quality COBOL-based code that serves as fine-tuning and evaluation data for training large language models (LLMs).
You won’t be building or fine-tuning the LLMs directly. Instead, your COBOL programming expertise will help improve model responses through Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) and Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF).
🧩 Your Day-to-Day Involves:
- Writing and maintaining clean, efficient COBOL code for training datasets.
- Evaluating and comparing model outputs across prompts and scenarios.
- Providing explanations and rationales to rank or assess model behavior.
- Designing new evaluation strategies and benchmarks.
- Collaborating with researchers, annotators, and engineers to support RLHF efforts.
- Reviewing peer work to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.
- Continuously optimizing COBOL-based sample data creation workflows.
🛠️ Key Requirements:
- 3+ years of COBOL experience (5+ overall work experience)
- Strong grasp of COBOL programming concepts, frameworks, and libraries
- Familiarity with COBOL’s testing ecosystem (unit, integration, property-based)
- Ability to debug, refactor, and write testable, production-ready COBOL code
- Understanding of asynchronous programming and architectural patterns
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal (English)
